The active Russian rubber market evolution requires the development of high-efficient domestic rubber chemicals. Аntiaging agents, antioxidants and antiozonants are indispensable components for the production of high-quality and durable rubber. Such reagents should protect products from the ozone effects, oxidation, atmospheric and thermal aging, while maintaining their performance and appearance.
Currently, the market for antioxidants and antiozonants is almost 90% foreign-produced, making it externally dependent. Since import substitution is one of the IFOTOP main objectives, this year we started domestic reagents’ development, as a cost-effective alternative to foreign ones.
IFOTOP technologists have prepared several compositions of antioxidants to analyze their effectiveness and properties. Comparative studies of IFO antioxidants with a reagent, which is the leader in the rubber production market, were carried out on the territory of NIIEMI LLC (Scientific and research institute of elastomeric materials and articles) from June to August 2023. The research was conducted on rubber based on SKI-3.
According to the results of physical-mechanical and chemical tests before and after the rubber aging, one of the IFO mixtures showed properties not inferior to the reagent of foreign production. At the moment, the possibility of additional research for introduction of the reagent is being considered.
